The Craft Story
These bags are handcrafted in the Ishipaa Community, La Guajira Desert, Colombia, by Wayuu artisan Sandra Aguilar and her family. Wayuu weaving is rooted in ancestral belief — legend tells of a sacred spider who taught women the art of weaving, a tradition that continues today.
Each mochila takes up to three weeks to complete, with artisans hand-crocheting more than 5,000 stitches into intricate geometric patterns. Every design reflects dreams, identity and connection to nature, making each bag a deeply personal and cultural expression.

Product Care
- Machine washable on a cold, delicate cycle
- Air dry naturally to maintain shape and colour
- Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight
- Care note: reshape gently after washing to maintain structure
Handcrafted Variation Note
Each piece is handcrafted individually, meaning slight variations in tone, texture and measurement (up to 20%) are a natural part of the process — and what makes your piece entirely your own. This is not considered a fault.
