Gaita Palm and Copper Handwoven Moya Baskets

Casa Bonita's Moya Baskets are handwoven from the native Gaita Palm, which is  sustainably harvested in the mountains of Boyaca, Colombia. The Moya Basket carries the spirit of tradition and resilience, while the rounded shape and Madre weaving, is reminiscent of the maternal belly or womb - an ancestral symbol of care and containment.

We create both traditional Moyas and Moyas enhanced with copper.

Handwoven by the EcoZetaquira Women's Association, each basket is the result of ancestral techniques passed down through generations of rural women weavers.

Originally used for harvesting crops and washing coffee beans, its sturdy design and natural waterproof properties make it multi-functional for modern daily life, whether purposed as a reusable shopping basket, a beach picnic, as stylish storage solution, or a meaningful eco-conscious gift.
