The Craft Story
This Wayuu Waterfall Tassel is handcrafted in the Ishipaa Community, La Guajira Desert, Colombia by Sandra Aguilar and her family, part of the Indigenous Wayuu community renowned for their intricate textile traditions.
Using traditional macramé techniques, each tassel is carefully knotted and layered by hand, creating movement, rhythm and depth in every strand. This practice is deeply connected to Wayuu culture and storytelling, inspired by the legend of the sacred spider who taught women to weave.
Each piece is entirely handmade, resulting in subtle variations in colour, form and flow — a reflection of the Artisan’s creativity and ancestral knowledge that cannot be replicated at scale.
