The Craft Story
These Moya Baskets are handcrafted in Boyacá, Colombia by the EcoZetaquira Women’s Association, a collective of rural women preserving ancestral weaving traditions.
Made from sustainably harvested gaita palm, each basket is woven using the traditional Madre technique — its rounded form symbolising the womb, an ancestral representation of care, protection and life.
The addition of copper enhances both meaning and function. In Andean traditions, copper is associated with energy, protection and connection to the Earth. Known for its antibacterial properties, it adds a layer of preservation and symbolism to each piece.
Every basket is entirely handmade, carrying the story, knowledge and spirit of the artisan who created it.
