The Craft Story
These Iraca Palm Sea Creatures are handcrafted in Colombia by the Las Juanitas Single Mothers Association, a collective of highly skilled women artisans preserving traditional weaving techniques passed down through generations.
Each piece begins with the careful harvesting of Iraca palm (Carludovica palmata), a natural fibre native to the region, which is then dyed using natural pigments and meticulously woven by hand into intricate, sculptural forms inspired by nature.
This entirely manual process results in subtle variations in shape, colour and texture — a signature of true craftsmanship that cannot be replicated at scale. Every Animalito carries the story, skill and cultural legacy of the woman who created it.
